Yachle'el
Grandson of Jacob and son of Zebulun. Brother of Sered and Elon.
Yachtze'el
Grandson of Jacob and son of Naphtali. Brother of Guni, Yetzer and Shilem.
Yakhin
Son of Simeon. Brother of Yemuel, Yamin, Ohad, Tzochar and Saul.
Yakshan
Son of Abraham and Keturah. Brother of Zimran, Madan, Midian, Yishbak and Shuach. Father of Sheba and Dedan.
Yalam
Son of Oholibama and Esau. Brother of Yeush and Korach.
Yamin
Son of Simeon. Brother of Yemuel, Ohad, Yakhin, Tzochar and Saul.
Yaval
Son of Lemekh and Adah, and brother of Yuval. He is described in Genesis 4:20 as 'the ancestor of all those who live in tents and keep herds'.
Yavan
Son of Yepheth and grandson of Noah. Said to have been the ancestor of the Ionians or ancient Greeks. He had four sons: Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim and Dodanim.
Yemuel
Son of Simeon. Brother of Yamin, Ohad, Yakhin, Tzochar and Saul.
Yepheth
Son of Noah, brother of Shem and Ham.Yepheth entered the Ark and survived the Flood together with his own family. When his father lay drunk in his tent, Yepheth and Shem covered his nakedness. Noah blessed Yepheth: 'May God enlarge Yepheth, and let him dwell in the tents of Shem; And let Canaan be a slave to them' (Genesis 9:27). He had seven sons and seven grandsons.
Yerach
Descendant of Noah. Son of Yoktan and brother of Almodad, Shelef, Chatzarmaveth, Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, Oval, Avimael, Sheba, Ophir, Havilah and Yovav.
Yered
Son of Mahalalel and father of Enoch.
Yetheth
An Edomite chieftain (Genesis 36:40).
Yetur
Son of Ishmael and grandson of Abraham (Genesis 25:13-15). Yetur and Nafish, his brother, settled in the area east of the Jordan but were later driven away by the tribes of Reuben, Gad and Menasseh. They are also identified with Ituraea, in the Arabian desert. They also settled around Damascus and were later forcibly converted to Judaism by King Aristobolus, who annexed their kingdom to Judea.
Yetzer
Grandson of Jacob and son of Naphtali. Brother of Yachtze'el, Guni and Shilem.
Yeush
Son of Oholibama and Esau. Brother of Yalam and Korach.
Yidlaf
Son of Milcah and Nachor. Brother of Utz, Buz, Kemuel, Kesed, Chazo, Pildash, and Bethuel.
Yig'al
One of the twelve spies sent out by Moses to survey the land of Canaan.Yig'al represented the tribe of Issachar (Numbers 13:7).
Yimnah
Grandson of Jacob and son of Asher. Brother of Yishvah, Yishvi, Beriah and Serach.
Yishbak
Son of Abraham and Keturah. Brother of Zimran, Yakshan, Medan, Midian and Shuach.
Yishvah
Grandson of Jacob and son of Asher. Brother of Yimnah, Yishvi, Beriah and Serach.
Yishvi
Grandson of Jacob and son of Asher. Brother of Yimnah, Yishvah, Beriah and Serach.
Yithran
Son of Dishon. Brother of Chemdan, Eshban and Keran.
Yitzhar
Descendant of Jacob. Son of Kehath and father of Korach, Nefeg and Zikhri. Brother of Amram, Hebron and Uzziel.
Yokhebed
One of the daughters of Levi, and the sister of Kehath, Yokhebed was born after the descent into Egypt.She married Amram, a Levite, and had a daughter, Miriam, and two sons, Aaron and Moses. After Pharoah decreed that all Jewish male infants should be put to death, Yokhebed hid Moses for three months, then hid him in a basket made of bulrushes by the edge of the river Nile (Exodus 2:3). When the Egyptian princess found him, Miriam came forward and suggested Yochebed as a nurse for the child, thus saving Moses' life.
Yoktan
Youngest son of Eber and a great-grandson of Shem (Genesis 10:26-9).
Yov
Grandson of Jacob and son of Issachar. Brother of Tolah, Puvvah and Shimron.
Yovav
Descendant of Noah. Son of Yoktan and brother of Almodad, Shelef, Chatzarmaveth, Yerach, Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, Oval, Avimael, Sheba, Ophir and Havilah.
Yuval
1. Son of Lemekh and Adah, brother of Yaval and a descendant of Cain, he was 'the ancestor of all those who play the harp and flute' (Genesis 4:21).
2. Son of Yapheth and grandson of Noah. Brother of Gomer, Magog, Madal, Yavan, Meshekh and Tiras.
